  • Research on Broadband Acoustic Control Technology for Interior Noise in Electric Vehicles

    A wideband active noise control system for wideband noise generated by air-conditioning units in automobiles was tested using door loudspeakers and voice-recognition microphones. By developing a new algorithm, a 3 dB (OA) [A]) reduction was achieved in the 40–150 Hz band for all seats in the cabin.

    Reducing heating energy in various electric vehicles is a challenge, requiring cabin heat management using devices like seat heaters. This report introduces efforts in seat heater development utilizing a numerical thermoregulation-model that models the heat balance between the human body and the environment.

  • hierarchical structuring the seating comfort of electrically assisted bicycle saddles

    Unlike ordinary bicycles, electrically power assisted bicycles do not require pedaling power, and therefore require a relaxed seating posture, which requires a comfortable saddle. Therefore, we extracted and structured the sensibility values necessary for saddle comfort. We are also studying the extraction of physical characteristics that correlate with the extracted sensory values. In the process, it was found that there are sensory values that are influenced by the shape of a person's buttocks and riding posture.

  • A study on the improvement of fade resistance for brake pads

    As part of technological development for lighter weight brakes, we analyzed the cause of the decrease in μ at high temperatures.
    The main factor is the generation of gas and liquid due to the decomposition of organic raw materials in the pad, but it is not clear which one is dominant.
    In this report, the effects of gas pressure and amount of liquid matter on the friction interface were investigated in fade test(temperature: 300-500℃), and it was shown that the liquid matter was the main factor in the pads considered this time.

  • Development of High Impact Resistant Silver Metallic Resin

    Suzuki is promoting unpainted resin and Automobile parts.The silver metallic color contains a luminous agent and has high design properties, but it reduces impact resistance.   • Influence of vibration during car driving on physiological responses of occupants

    The purpose of this study is to establish a quantitative evaluation method for ride comfort, which is different from the conventional evaluation index for automobile vibration, by focusing on changes in physiological reactions of occupants such as breathing and body movements during automobile driving and finding a correlation with ride comfort feeling.

  • Reduction of mechanical vibration by biogenic shaped polymers with hard and soft parts without joints

    In order to construct a lightweight and highly efficient mechanical vibration reduction technology, we have been developing a polymer thin-film material with hard and soft portions that differ in Young's modulus by a factor of 1000. In this presentation, we will report the results of vibration reduction of mechanical products using these materials.

  • Research on fast-response gas sensing using MEMS technology and novel nano-gap electrodes

    In gas sensors, there are few examples of initiatives focusing on the distance between electrodes. The use of nano-gap electrodes has been shown to produce a fast response that differs from that of conventional oxide semiconductor gas sensors.

  • Study on Improvement of Mixture Homogeneity of Hydrogen Engine by Jet

    Hydrogen engines are attracting attention as one of the carbon-neutral power sources. Direct injection in the cylinder after closing the intake valve is effective from the viewpoint of higher output, but NOx becomes a problem due to the short mixing time and inhomogeneity. This paper analyzes the air-mixture formation mechanism and proposes design guidelines for jets that achieve a homogeneous mixture with both power and low NOx.

  • Challenges in CAE modeling of H2 Engines

    CAE modeling of H2 engines presents numerous challenges in terms of balancing simulation accuracy and cost. Modeling the flow and mixing phenomena are challenging mainly due to the extremely high speed of H2 flows couples with high mass diffusivity of H2 gas. On the chemical kinetics side, high flame speed and small flame thickness make accurate tracking of combustion difficult. NOx generation, high heat losses and crankcase blowby are also significant issues that are challenging to model in low-cost simulations. This presentation discusses these issues in detail and briefly touches upon some potential solutions.

  • Elucidating the mechanism of hydraulic noise using CFD

    Hydraulic system noise was often solved by trial and error in experiments. To solve it, CFD that reproduce the regulating pressure behavior of valves was conducted and analyzed the flow field in detail. The results revealed the mechanism, air in the oil expands and compresses in the circuit to generate noise, which is difficult to elucidate experimentally. In this report, the details of mechanism and countermeasures will be presented.

    Nowadays, Bismuth (Bi) and polymer are being applied as an overlay material for engine bearings instead of Lead (Pb) which is environmentally harmful material.   • Development of Simulation-Based Method for Estimation of Collision Avoidance Benefit of Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning in Traffic Collisions

    Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) are becoming widespread and are expected to contribute to reducing the number of traffic collisions and mitigating damage to people. The situations of traffic collisions are diverse. That makes it difficult to quantitatively estimate the actual effectiveness of ADAS through physical experiments. In this study, a simulation-based method was developed to quantitatively estimate the effect of ADAS taking into account the various situations of traffic collisions.
